Amazon’s voice assistant usually listens to every word. Currently there are only error messages around the world.
Once you get used to changing the music, setting a timer or even turning on the light with a simple voice command, you usually don’t want to do without it anymore. Currently, however, Alexa users worldwide have to make do with other means: Amazon’s Voice Assistant seems to be plagued with outages around the world.
Nothing seems to be going on at Amazon for almost an hour. This is shown by the complaints on the “All disturbances” page. Complaints skyrocketed on both Alexa and Amazon. According to the affected users, instead of giving answers or executing commands, Alexa only reports that she is having connection problems. Twitter also has tons of complaints from users around the world under the hashtag #alexadown.
Alexa failure: what’s behind it?
What exactly is behind the failure is currently still unclear: Amazon has not yet commented on the failure. However, it should not fit the group particularly well: with the Echo Show 15, it had just released its largest Echo model with a screen for pre-order in Germany.
