Sprint star Alex Quiñónez shot dead: body found next to another dead person

The Ecuadorian World Cup third place over 200 meters Alex Quiñónez has apparently been the victim of a crime. His body was discovered in the port city of Guayaquil.
The Ecuadorian sprint star and third place in the world championship over 200 meters, Álex Quiñónez, was found shot. According to the police, he was discovered next to another dead person on Saturday night (local time) in the port city of Guayaquil. “It is with great sadness that we confirm the murder of our athlete Álex Quiñónez,” said the Ecuadorian Ministry of Sports on Twitter.
“We lost a great athlete, someone who made us dream, who moved us. He was the greatest sprinter this country has produced,” it said. Ecuador’s President Guillermo Lasso expressed his condolences to the athlete’s family.
Alex Quiñónez most successful sprinter from Ecuador
Quiñónez had been suspended before the Olympic Games in Tokyo for “violating his residence obligations” and was unable to take part in the major event. In 2019 he finished third over 200 meters, making him the most successful sprinter in the South American country.
