Aldi gaming notebooks: Ryzen 5000 eight-core processors paired with GeForce GPUs

From December 9th, 2021, both Aldi Nord and Aldi Süd will sell two gaming notebooks from Medion: the Erazer Deputy P25 for 1250 euros and the Erazer Beast X25 for 2700 euros. Both use Zen 3 eight-core processors from AMD and mobile graphics chips from Nvidia.

The Erazer Deputy P25 combines the Ryzen 7 5800H with a mobile GeForce RTX 3060. The latter can consume up to 130 watts of electrical energy, so it should be able to clock relatively high with adequate cooling. Many other notebooks allow the GeForce RTX 3060 less than 100 watts, which limits the frame rates in 3D games. There is also 16 GB of DDR4-3200 RAM and a 512 GB PCI Express SSD with pre-installed Windows 11 Home.

The 15.6-inch IPS display shows 1920 × 1080 pixels (Full HD) at 144 Hertz. There are four USB ports, including a 10 Gbit / s type A and type C port (USB 3.2 Gen 2), the latter with DisplayPort function for image output. Alternatively, high-resolution monitors can be connected via HDMI 2.1 or Mini-DisplayPort. There is also an RJ-45 socket for Gigabit Ethernet – the notebook transmits wirelessly in Wi-Fi 6 networks.

Other notebooks with similar features start at 1150 euros, but are heavier at over 2.3 kg.

The Erazer Beast X25 uses the higher clocked Ryzen 9 5900HX with a boost clock frequency of a maximum of 4.6 instead of 4.4 GHz as with the 5800H CPU. The GeForce RTX 3080 used allows itself up to 165 watts, so thanks to 6144 instead of 3840 shader cores it should be a good deal faster than the GeForce RTX 3060 in the sister model. Interested parties should not fall for the name: The desktop RTX-3080 with 8704 shader cores and a Thermal Design Power (TDP) of 320 watts is significantly faster than any mobile version.

Aldi and Medion put 64 GB of DDR4-3200 RAM and a 2 TB PCIe SSD in the Erazer Beast X25, also with pre-installed Windows 11 Home. The ports also have two USB 3.2 Gen 2 (10 Gbit / s), including a Type-C port with DisplayPort function, HDMI 2.1 and RJ-45. Although the 17.3-inch notebook is larger than the Erazer Deputy P25, both models weigh the same at 2.3 kg. The display of the Erazer Beast X25 has a resolution of 2560 × 1440 pixels (WQHD) and displays 165 frames per second.

Aldi sells that Erazer Deputy P25 and the Erazer Beast X25 through their own online shop throughout Germany. Orders can be placed from December 9th, 2021 at 7 a.m.
