Eccentric customers, annoying colleagues or strict bosses – an Aldi employee shows on TikTok with a wink what everyday work looks like at the discounter.

Everyone has probably been shopping at Aldi, but you rarely get a glimpse behind the scenes at the discounter. That is currently changing on TikTok: an Aldi employee is building an ever-growing fan base on the social media app. TikTok user “Tekin_Tee” is now followed by more than 100,000 people, and his videos are viewed thousands of times.

Tekin works in an Aldi branch in Bielefeld and regularly publishes short clips from everyday discounter life. In doing so, he pokes fun at everything and everyone – and does not shy away from customers or the boss. He imitates married couples who argue in front of the shelves, his colleagues and superiors. And his followers are enthusiastic.

Aldi employees take their day-to-day work with humor

In his most successful video, which has been viewed more than a million times so far, Tekin makes fun of customers who rush into the market at seven in the morning. In another clip, he shows how uncomfortable supermarket employees feel when customers are right next to them making phone calls on private topics.

And the TikToker also takes the relationship between himself and his boss with humor. In the videos a pattern is repeated over and over again: “I have returned home, master”, explains the employee after he has come out of the break too late and is back to work after a sick leave. “This is no longer your home and I am no longer your master,” replies the boss.

Another Aldi employee had previously celebrated great success on TikTok: Cashier Elaine Victoria from Hamburg now has 900,000 followers. She even became internationally known with a LipSync video, a clip in which she sings along to a song in her Aldi work outfit.
