AL Kennedy at the Lit.Cologne: biting as possible – culture

From

Alexander Menden

The stage that AL Kennedy enters this evening, is perhaps the most Cologne venue of the Lit.Cologne. The Volksbühne am Rudolfplatz was called Millowitsch-Theater until 2018 because the pillar saint of Rhenish humor, Willy Millowitsch, spread cheerfulness here for 75 years, at the best times in Germany, with TV ratings of 88 percent. There is a bust of Willy in the stairwell, there are also posters for guest performances – Manfred Krug, Heidi Kabel, Gerd Dudenhöffer. And now: AL Kennedy, whose humor usually spreads less cheerfulness than apocalypse mood, and whose performance at the last weekend of the Lit.Cologne is one of the highlights of this year’s festivals.
