ZDF is expanding the “Aktenzeichen XY” brand and dedicating new programs and a podcast to it.

For almost 60 years, the television series “Aktenzeichen XY… unsolved” has been flickering across the nation’s television screens. This makes the format one of the oldest on ZDF. The public broadcaster would now like to expand the series with unsolved real criminal cases. He announced this in a press release.

A podcast and two specials

Accordingly, three new offshoots are planned for the show. One of them will be the podcast “Aktenzeichen XY… Unforgotten Crimes”. From autumn, “Aktenzeichen XY… unsolved” moderator Rudi Cerne (63) will lend his voice to the podcast.

Another project for the broadcaster and Cerne is the special edition “Aktenzeichen XY… Missing”. This will be shown on ZDF on Wednesday, June 29 at 8:15 p.m. For the first time, the special program is dedicated to people of all ages who have disappeared. Previously, this format was only for missing children and young people who were to be found with the help of viewers.

The head of the ZDF main editorial office for TV film/Series I, Frank Zervos, says about the new projects with Cerne: “‘Aktenzeichen XY’ is an authority on German television – and Rudi Cerne has been its face for 20 years. We are delighted that he committed to ZDF for another four years and is working with us to expand the ‘XY’ cosmos.”

“Aktenzeichen XY…Solved”, which was previously moderated in individual special editions by Cerne, also gets a new coat of paint. On Friday, August 5 at 9:15 p.m. the new 45-minute “XY solved” will start. ZDF moderator Sven Voss (45), together with the investigators responsible at the time, public prosecutors and experts, looks back on the clarification of previous cases. The deed, the investigation and finally the solution are reconstructed in detail.
