When the farmers’ demonstration ended at Munich’s Odeonsplatz, Economics Minister Hubert Aiwanger still had to walk through a line of pats on the back and photo requests on Monday. And then took the subway to the north of the city. With all the tractors, it probably wouldn’t have been possible to get through by car, but demo hopper Aiwanger had to go on to eastern Bavaria, having previously come from Landshut. In the subway – one Picture-Reporter filmed – the Free Voters leader met a few craftsmen who had previously protested with the farmers and joked around with them. “I was with Gruabarin,” said one. This refers to the Erdinger heating demo in the summer, which was organized by the cabaret artist Monika Gruber and at which Aiwanger made the controversial statement that one must “take back democracy”. A smile appeared on Aiwanger’s face: “About what’s going on. Thank you!”
