Airport BER – more air traffic – economy

The financially troubled capital airport BER remains far below the pre-crisis level despite an increase in passengers expected for 2022. The operating company announced that 17 million passengers are expected after almost ten million this year. In 2019 and thus before the corona pandemic, there were still around 36 million passengers. A spokesman said the airport will also lose money next year. Airport boss Aletta von Massenbach spoke of cautious optimism and increasing sales. After the sometimes chaotic processes during the autumn holidays, they want to ensure better processes during the Christmas holidays and beyond. A report to the federal government as the owner recently revealed that the airport expects an operating loss of 48 million euros in 2021 and a consolidated loss of around 350 million euros.
