Airplane: Experience the world’s shortest passenger flight in real time

Watch the video: Experience the world’s shortest passenger flight in real time.

Come with us on the shortest passenger flight in the world.

It only lasts one minute and 14 seconds. Depending on the wind, it can also go faster. The record was just 53 seconds.

The flight departs from the Scottish island of Westray to the nearby island of Papa Westray. The two islands are only 2.7 kilometers apart as the crow flies.

However, the flight is not cheap. It costs the equivalent of 20 euros and is described as one of the most expensive flights in the world due to its short distance.

The video was recorded by travel vlogger Noel Philips. Regarding the flight, he says: “The planes that fly to these islands are quite small, they’re like a minibus! You cannot take hand luggage on board, it all has to be in the trunk when you come on board. They are very popular with tourists and aviation enthusiasts.”

But some criticize that a flight over such a short distance is unnecessary. The alternative – a 20 minute boat ride. The local council’s idea of building a bridge connecting the two islands has not yet been approved.

For the time being, the flight route will still be used regularly by locals and tourists.

The flight can carry up to nine passengers and is operated twice daily by operator Loganair.
