Britain’s largest airport, London Heathrow, warned on the social network X – formerly Twitter – that flight schedules were still “significantly disrupted”. Travelers should contact their airline before traveling to the airport. Meanwhile, the second largest airport, London Gatwick, said it was planning to offer a “normal flight schedule”. Nevertheless, travelers should check with their airline about the status of their flight before arriving at the airport.
Technical issues fixed
Hundreds of flights had previously been canceled due to “technical problems” with British air traffic control. As the BBC reported, citing the aeronautical analysis company Cirium, a good 270 landings and more than 230 take-offs were canceled.
Yesterday afternoon, NATS said it had “identified and fixed” the issue that had affected its flight planning system. On social networks, passengers bound for Great Britain reported hour-long delays and flight cancellations. Experts expected that the consequences in British air traffic around the important London hub could still be felt for days.
