Aigner considers Striebl’s attack against the traffic light coalition to be borderline – Bavaria

A questionable remark in a plenary debate in the state parliament has no consequences for the Free Voters parliamentary group leader Florian Streibl. “For me, Streibl’s statement was borderline, but not yet a reprimand,” said Ilse Aigner (CSU), President of the State Parliament, after a meeting of the Council of Elders, which discussed the case on Wednesday. At the lectern, Streibl said last week: “Because new apocalyptic riders have descended on us: pandemic, war, inflation and then the worst of them, on his pale horse with three heads: the traffic light coalition in Berlin.”

The Green MP Jürgen Mistol found that the fact that Streibl put the federal government in such a row was “intolerable” and incompatible with the culture of democratic debate – and had requested that the Council of Elders deal with the case. The fact that the FW parliamentary group leader was spared a reprimand also has to do with the fact that he “apologized to me and to the public,” said Aigner.

For the president of the state parliament, the matter is now “closed”, in view of the 23 reprimands that she has had to make in this legislative period, 19 of them against the AfD alone, she still makes an appeal to the MPs: “Especially with regard to the state elections but we all try to keep a moderate tone in the discussions.”
