AI law and culture: “Disturbingly anti-cultural and anti-citizen” – Culture

The cultural world is very angry at Economics Minister Robert Habeck and Digital Minister Volker Wissing. It is not their job to protect culture, but one might expect them to care about the German economy and the digital future. Instead, they apparently drank a little too much of Silicon Valley’s magic potion. As it stands, they are the driving force against the EU’s AI law. The trialogue is scheduled to end on Wednesday, December 6th. The “AI Act” would be the first legislative package in the world that would have sensibly regulated the development and use of artificial intelligence. On November 18th, however, Germany, France and Italy opposed the negotiation results that had been achieved up to that point. They had agreed on “mandatory self-regulation” for AI developers and operators.
