Philipp Welte’s inaugural speech as CEO of the Media Association of the Free Press (MVFP) sounded like blood, sweat and tears in Berlin on Thursday. “What connects us all, who have come together this morning, is the love of freedom.” He spoke of democracy, of responsibility, of the future and – of course – of artificial intelligence. He kept them at a distance with a classification somewhere between the force of nature and a foreign power of uncertain sentiment. After all, all media must think about how to turn the threat into an ally. This also applies to all those journals, magazines and publications represented in the association that are no longer paper media.
