New agreement between unions and VTC platforms. The text, a “major advance”, concerns “the transparency of VTC reservation centers and the conditions for suspension and termination of connection services”, according to a press release from the VTC Association of France (AVF), the National Federation of Self-Employed and Microentrepreneurs (FNAE), the CFTC and the Unsa.
It includes “significant progress in favor of VTC drivers”, indicate the unions in this sector where social dialogue remains in its infancy despite still weak social rights. Concretely, a platform will no longer be able to deactivate a driver’s account “without notice” and must “give him the opportunity to respond”.
Accounts deactivated for opaque reasons
“Many are deactivated by the platforms for opaque reasons or following minor or abusive complaints from customers,” the unions actually deplore. A “principle of compensation for drivers” based on previous income will also be introduced “in the event of unjustified suspension of the account”, specify the unions.
“This agreement thus marks the end of arbitrary deactivations” and gives drivers “greater financial stability”, they indicate, estimating that “each year, several hundred drivers could benefit”. The second part of the agreement signed on Tuesday provides for “better information for drivers on the terms of offering journeys, setting prices and the use of data”.
