A man threatened and injured people on a regional train. Now a magistrate decides how to proceed with the attacker.

After an attack with an ax-like object on a regional train in south-east Brandenburg, the suspect is due to appear before the magistrate in Cottbus on Saturday. Then it will be decided whether the 37-year-old has to be remanded in custody. A spokesman for the South Police Department said today. The man, who is a Polish citizen, has not yet made any statements to the police about the act of violence.

The arrested 37-year-old is said to have threatened passengers on a regional train in the small town of Guben on the Polish border yesterday afternoon and injured a young person with an ax-like object. Witnesses said the man threatened passengers and damaged parts of the interior. The man is said to have injured a 17-year-old teenager in the head. She came to the hospital. The girl has not yet been heard, said the spokesman.
