Against intra-family violence, the Val-de-Marne opens a dedicated listening line

For victims and their relatives, the department of Val-de-Marne is committed against domestic violence by creating a listening and advice line launched on Tuesday. 01.89.11.94.94 will be available from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Friday. This number puts local victim support associations online with people who need to confide, as soon as the first signals arrive. This device, called “Premier pas”, does not replace the emergency numbers 17 or 112, but allows, before arriving at a case of imminent danger, to prevent and react.

The department indicates that it wishes to intervene as soon as possible to help people plunged into a spiral of violence to identify them and to get out of it, via local associations that can be reached on this helpline. It is also a means of identifying victims who have passed under the radar of Val-de-Marne, via the CCAS (municipal centers for social action) or the EDS (departmental spaces for solidarity).

A very local anchorage

At the end of the line, specialists will be able to respond to the victims and their loved ones and provide them with social and legal solutions. The department specifies that the listening line will be complementary to the national platform 3919, the specificity of which is its local anchorage. CIDFF 94 (information center on women’s rights), APCARS 94 (association for applied criminal policy and social reintegration) and APCE 94 (association for couples and children) have already signed an agreement to participate in this scheme.

The Premier Pas platform will be aimed at both female and male victims, even if the latter are much less numerous, as well as adult children. On the other hand, minor children are taken care of in another framework, that of social assistance for children. The Val-de-Marne is not spared, the number of victims of domestic violence being higher than the national average.
