Against colds: Five recipes to strengthen the immune system

The cold season is currently in full swing. If you’re not already sick yourself, your immune system has more than enough to do because of that alone – you’re sneezing, coughing and clearing your throat everywhere, and contact with viruses is almost unstoppable. In total, there are over 200 different viruses that can cause a cold. They particularly like to strike when the immune system is weakened – when we are tired or exhausted, when we get wet or when we consume too much alcohol and nicotine. But the immune system can also be strengthened: with regular exercise in the fresh air, enough sleep and relaxation, and the right diet.

Recipes with the healing power of nature

Above all, secondary plant substances that are found in fruits and vegetables and some of which have antiviral and antioxidant effects, for example garlic, ginger, onions, horseradish or chili, are essential. In addition to grandma’s good old chicken soup, there are other dishes that meet these requirements, warm you from the inside and specifically strengthen your immune system.
