Sat.1 broadcaster boss Daniel Rosemann has set himself some goals. He wants to change the afternoon completely. What he’s up to and why he’s doing it.

The television station Sat.1 throws the scripted reality out of the late afternoon program. “Scripted reality has accompanied Sat.1 for a really long time,” said station boss Daniel Rosemann on Tuesday at the Screenforce Days industry meeting.

“But we don’t believe it’s the future. And that’s why there is a radical cut, this year. We will change the program completely from 4 p.m., we will no longer do Scripted Reality.”

What a “full house” is

Instead, Sat.1 gets an afternoon show lasting several hours, according to Rosemann. «Live – that’s important. Nothing is live at the moment, nothing up to date. The whole thing is called “Full House” because it has everything. We will have guests. We will show reports and docu-soaps. The beloved 90s talk is coming back, all of that is in the full house. And daily and live and in Sat.1 from this year onwards.”

A good year ago, Rosemann took over the management of ProSieben as well as Sat.1 and has since redesigned the station to make it more popular again. His credo: “Radical renewal for radically better range.” He experienced a setback, for example, with the new reality show “Club of Good Moods”, which was banned from prime time into the late evening due to poor viewership. “We have set ourselves a lot – and some things work and some things don’t work,” said Rosemann. For example, the relationship test show “Couple Wars” with Ralf Schmitz or the comeback of the game show “Go to the Whole” are successes. And there are several formats in preparation, such as the return of the show “My husband can”.
