The owners of Oetker split the Bielefeld group into two parts. The decision was preceded by decades of dispute.
The Oetker Group is split into two parts. This settled a dispute that had lasted for decades. Corresponding registrations in the commercial register were submitted today, both family parts announced. The three Oetker heirs are taking over eight companies from the previous Oetker Group via a new holding company, which recently had a turnover of around two billion euros.
Sparkling wine and pizza will be separated in future
This includes the business with sparkling wine and wine with such well-known brands as “Henkell” and “Freixenet”. Martin Braun Backmittel, the Budenheim chemical factory, some hotels from the hotel division and the August Oetker art collection also go to her. The companies should steer on a growth course, announced the co-boss of the new group, Alfred Oetker. Also on board are Carl Ferdinand and Julia Johanna Oetker. The group is bundled in Geschwister Oetker Beteiligungen KG.
The remaining shareholders will also retain the traditional pizza and food business, the Coppenrath & Wiese pastry shop and the Radeberger Group with the recently acquired beverage delivery service in a bottle. There are also some hotels. Richard and Philip Oetker, Rudolf Louis Schweizer, Markus von Luttitz and Ludwig Graf Douglas remain involved in this part. This group is led by the Dr. August Oetker KG. All eight shareholders are children of Rudolf August Oetker, who died in 2007.
No impact on the workforce
“The decision has no impact on the employees in the individual companies of the Oetker Group”, it had already been said in July. At the end of 2020, around 37,000 people were working for Oetker and its subsidiaries worldwide. In 2020, Oetker reported sales of more than 7.3 billion euros. At the beginning of October, the then undivided group announced that Bankhaus Lampe had been sold to Hauck & Aufhäuser Privatbankiers AG.
