After the shots, bus drivers will no longer take a break at Mendès-France Bellevue

Two months after the shooting death of a young man, the Bellevue neighborhood has once again been shaken by two shootings in recent days. And one of the two occurred again at Place Mendès-France, in the heart of the district, where tram line 1 and several bus lines intersect. Given the anxiety-provoking context, the management of Semitan, “concerned about the safety of its employees”, has decided that the regulation times of bus lines, times during which drivers wait parked for several minutes, will be moved out of the place Mendès-France in the evening.

These driving breaks will now take place a little further in the neighborhood, at the Jamet station. “This decision will apply from Friday December 15 and until Sunday January 7 inclusive,” indicates Semitan, specifying that the measure will take effect from 6 p.m. to the end of the service.

Gunshots in front of the convenience store

This decision, which aims to make staff wait in a location deemed safer, will have no impact on customers since service to the Bellevue terminus “will be carried out as usual”. Several Semitan unions have been calling for such a measure in recent weeks.

Saturday evening, around 7 p.m., shots were fired in front of a supermarket on Place Mendès-France, injuring a man aged around thirty in the leg. A bus was parked right next to it. Another shooting broke out in the Bellevue district on Monday evening, 500 meters from Place Mendès-France this time, on the Saint-Herblain side.
