After a crisis meeting of the German Football Association, it is clear: national coach Flick should lead the national team to the EM 2024, which will take place in Germany.
Hansi Flick remains the coach of the national football team. The 57-year-old should lead the men’s team to the home European Championship in 2024 despite being eliminated in the World Cup preliminary round, according to an analysis of the Qatar bankruptcy with DFB President Bernd Neuendorf and his vice Hans-Joachim Watzke.
“My coaching team and I are optimistic about the European Championships in our own country. As a team, we can achieve a lot more than we showed in Qatar. We missed a great opportunity there,” said Flick. “We will learn our lessons from this.”
The successor to Oliver Bierhoff, whose contract as DFB managing director will be terminated, is still uncertain. “With regard to Oliver Bierhoff’s successor, we have agreed that we will first discuss the future structure of this area of responsibility within the DFB and then make a personnel decision,” said Neuendorf.
