After the Domingos storm, eight departments on orange alert for floods on Monday

After the rain… Still the rain. After Storm Domingos passed through France this weekend, the weather on Monday will remain very rainy, particularly in the north and New Aquitaine, with eight departments still on orange alert for floods, according to Météo-France.

These are Pas-de-Calais, Deux-Sèvres, Vienne, Charente, Charente-Maritime, Dordogne, Corrèze and Gironde.

Showers across the country

In the morning, showers will already be frequent near the English Channel and in the west of the country up to the west of the Massif Central. They will be marked and locally stormy in the coastal departments, in particular from Cotentin to Nord-Pas-de-Calais and in the west of Aquitaine. Lighter showers will cross the northeastern quarter as far as the northern Alps but also Occitania under temporarily very cloudy skies.

In the afternoon, the southernmost regions will generally remain away from instability. A few showers will occur in the east of the Pyrenees and in the south of Corsica. Dry weather will return to the plains of Occitanie and will persist over Provence and the Côte d’Azur under a well-clouded sky.

But the pattern of showers will reach the rest of the country. The showers will continue to be more pronounced and locally stormy near the Channel and in the South-West, with significant accumulations.

Moderate wind

The wind will be moderate inland to quite strong on the shores of the English Channel and the Atlantic. It can sometimes reach 60/80 km/h in gusts along the seaside, or even 80/100 km/h on the shores of Normandy in the North Sea and on the coasts of New Aquitaine.

In the early morning, temperatures will be between 5 and 9 degrees in general, between 9 and 13 degrees on the coasts. During the day, highs will reach 11 to 16 degrees, 16 to 20 in the southeast, but locally 8 to 10 around the Massif Central.
