After the death of Thomas in Crépol, a far-right demonstration banned this Friday

This Friday, at 8 p.m., a demonstration in tribute to Thomas Perotto, the teenager who lost his life on November 19 in a knife attack in the Drôme, was announced in Bordeaux. To prevent disturbances to public order, the Gironde prefecture announced this Thursday a ban on this gathering.

“Indeed, the small ultra-right group La Bastide Bordelaise wishes to gather at the same place and at the same time, the risk of a violent reaction from antagonistic groups of the ultra-left Gironde is highly probable,” she explains in a press release. , the clashes between the ultra-right and ultra-left movements being regular and causing, as during their last two confrontations, injuries in both groups.

Around thirty acts attributed to the far right in 2023

The day before, Wednesday, around twenty associative and trade union organizations (the Human Rights League, Attac, SOS racism etc.) supported by a few left-wing political parties (EELV 33, Ensemble! 33, LFI 33, Nouvelle Donne Gironde, PCF Gironde and PS Gironde) had warned in a joint press release of the danger represented by this demonstration, in a context of an increase in violent and racist acts by far-right groups. “During the 2022-2023 school year, around thirty acts were committed,” the press release points out. Since September 2023, around ten similar acts have been recorded by us.”

The organizations want to warn about this type of demonstration “which have no other objective than to disseminate and implement the racist theses of these small groups fantasizing about a civil war of which they are the main instigators. »

The prefecture authorized the use of a drone by the national police to ensure compliance with this ban.
