Closed high schools and business premises deserted due to confinement have a significant impact on the blood product reserves of
the French Blood Establishment from Occitania. With the return of confinement, cancellations of blood drives have increased in recent days.
In fact, the stock of blood bags in Occitania has fallen below the ten-day mark, while to meet the needs of patients, you must have at least 14 days of stock in front of you.
Without this being the shortage, the Easter weekend, with one more public holiday, reduced the stock of 10,000 donations at the national level. To reverse the trend, the French Blood Establishment has decided to launch an appeal to citizens to mobilize and go to collection sites. In Toulouse, the Purpan CHU site is open, as is the donation house, rue Lapeyrouse in the city center.
To get there, even if they are more than 10 km from their home, it is possible by checking the “help to vulnerable people” certificate. In the agglomeration, a collection is also organized Thursday and Friday at the Odyssey, in Balma, from 9:30 am to 1 pm and from 2 pm to 7 pm.
