In response to the terrorist attack in Kabul, the USA attacked a local branch of the terrorist militia “Islamic State” (IS) in an air strike. The unmanned air strike in the Afghan province of Nangahar was aimed at “a planner” from Isis-K, said the spokesman for the US Central Command Centcom, Bill Urban. “According to the first signs, we killed the target. We do not know of any civilian casualties.”
Isis-K or IS-Khorasan is a local branch of the terrorist militia. The Americans speak of Isis instead of IS – that’s why they refer to the branch as Isis-K.
The terrorist militia killed more than 180 people in an attack at Kabul airport on Thursday – women, men and children who were hoping to leave the country after the Taliban came to power around two weeks ago. Among the dead were 13 US soldiers who are securing the airport grounds as part of the ongoing evacuation missions. IS-Khorasan claimed the attack for itself. It was the most loss-making attack on the US Army in the Hindu Kush in ten years.
Biden had announced retaliation
US President Biden had announced retaliation in a first statement after the attack. “We’ll hunt you down and make you pay for it,” he said on Thursday. According to US security sources, he gave his commanders permission to attack targets of the Islamist group in Afghanistan shortly afterwards.
Again warning of attacks
The US wants to get as many people as possible out of the country before it is about to leave Afghanistan on August 31. According to the US military, more than 5,000 people are still waiting to be evacuated at Kabul airport. There was another security warning there today. The US embassy in Afghanistan called on its compatriots to leave the area immediately. This applies to all US citizens “who are at the Abbey Gate, East Gate, North Gate or the gate of the new Interior Ministry,” said the embassy warning. No one else should come to the airport in the first place due to the dangerous situation.
