After over 100 years: Legendary café in Ingolstadt closes – Bavaria

Café Wiedamann has existed since 1894. It reflects the change in coffee house culture – but also the dark moments in German history. Time for a final visit to its owner, who at 82 years old still stands in his shop every day.

It’s a cross. Fritz Wiedamann just can’t keep up with baking since they wrote in the newspaper that he would be closing his shop at the end of the year. After more than 100 years in family ownership. Since then, customers have been knocking down his door. “If only it had been like this for the last few years!” says the 82-year-old with the alert blue eyes and laughs. He’s a little serious about it, but without any grant.
