New Russian bombings in several regions of Ukraine, at least one dead in kyiv
Russian bombardments targeted several regions of Ukraine on Saturday as well as kyiv, the capital. Its mayor, Vitali Klitschko, reported the death of one person and injuries to around twenty others.
According to journalists from Agence France-Presse present on the spot, eleven explosions sounded at the beginning of the afternoon in kyiv. “As a result of the Russian attack on civilian property in the capital, one person died, twenty were injured. Fourteen victims were hospitalized, six were taken care of by doctors on site.writes Vitali Klitschko on Telegram. The facade of the four-star Alfavito hotel was gutted, the surrounding sidewalks were covered with shards of glass from the windows of the building and the National Palace of the Arts. The authorities have released pictures showing the damaged hotel.
The head of Ukrainian diplomacy, Dmytro Kuleba, accused the Russian army of deliberately targeting residential areas. “War Criminal Putin ‘Celebrates’ New Year By Killing People”he wrote on Twitter.
The Russian missiles also caused destruction and fires in Mykolaiv, in the south, where at least six injuries were reported, and in Khmelnytsky, in the west, where there are four. According to Ukrainian Chief of Staff Valeri Zaluzhny, Russian forces fired twenty cruise missiles, particularly from strategic bombers from the Caspian Sea, twelve of which were shot down by anti-aircraft defense.
