Russian President Putin wants to make the annexation of four Ukrainian regions official tomorrow. The agreements are to be signed at a ceremony in the Kremlin. Afterwards, Putin will give a speech.

On Friday, Russia will formally complete the annexation of the four Russian-controlled regions in Ukraine. At a ceremony at noon in the Kremlin with President Vladimir Putin, the agreements on the admission of these regions to the Russian Federation are to be signed, as Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov announced. Putin will give a “comprehensive speech” at the ceremony.

West does not recognize results

According to the local separatists, the overwhelming majority of the mock referendums were in favor of the annexation. Ukraine and the West do not recognize the votes.

The multi-day “referendums” in the eastern Ukrainian regions of Luhansk and Donetsk and in the southern Ukrainian regions of Zaporizhia and Cherson ended on Tuesday. On Wednesday, the leaders of the separatists there formally asked Putin for the annexation.

Preparation of the ceremony in Moscow

The separatist leaders have already arrived in Moscow to complete the annexation, according to Russian news agencies. The celebrations are being prepared in the Russian capital. The authorities announced the closure of streets in the center, especially around Red Square.
