One day after one Attack on two people in a Regensburg district hospital a seven-year-old died. He died from his injuries in a clinic on Friday evening, the police said on Saturday night. “The thoughts of the entire Upper Palatinate police are with the family.”
Clinic employee stopped attack
The seven-year-old and a 63-year-old clinic employee suffered stab wounds in a hallway in the child and adolescent psychiatric facility on Thursday. According to the police, after the crime in the closed facility of the district hospital, the child was initially “in an extremely critical condition”.
A 27-year-old employee of the clinic ultimately stopped the attack. He overpowered the attacker, a police spokesman continued. The employee was able to hold the suspected 14-year-old perpetrator until the police arrived, but was injured in the hand. According to the information, he has now been able to leave the hospital again.
Extremist background not ruled out
On Friday, the police announced that the Bavarian Central Office for Combating Extremism and Terrorism was at the Munich Public Prosecutor’s Office took over the investigation into two cases of attempted murder. The public prosecutor’s office is taking action because there may be an extremist background, the authority said. Because the 14-year-old teenager was possibly incapable of committing guilt, he was placed in a psychiatric clinic.
Did the perpetrator take a selfie with the murder weapon?
The Mittelbayerische Zeitung and the Bild-Zeitung report that the 14-year-old published a photo on Instagram shortly before the crime in which he was holding a butcher knife in his hand. He wears gloves, black clothing and a cap pulled low over his forehead.
The cell phone covers his face as he presses the shutter button and takes a photo of his reflection in the mirror. The police are now said to have arranged for the selfie to be deleted. It is said that the alleged perpetrator took the photo shortly before the crime in a toilet at the child and adolescent psychiatry in Regensburg.
Probably plans for a killing spree
The 14-year-old comes from the Neustadt an der Waldnaab district and was known to the police since the beginning of the year. Among other things, he is said to have “worked intensively on the planning and execution of the most serious acts of violence” in relevant chat groups.
At the beginning of the year he is said to have planned a school shooting with a friend in northern Upper Palatinate. The boys wanted to build a bomb. They researched rampages and bomb-making online. This is how cyber investigators tracked them down. The boys were finally arrested in January and placed in a psychiatric hospital. At the time, the suspect was only 13 years old and therefore not yet of criminal responsibility.
