World footballer Karim Benzema (35) shocked the sports world with a lying tweet against Israel. The 97-time French international seems to be clearly on the side of the terrorist organization Hamas after the barbaric murders!
Now the French government is reacting. France’s Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin (41) accuses the reigning world footballer of having contact with a terrorist organization.
▶︎ “Mr Karim Benzema has notorious links to the Muslim Brotherhood,” the minister said in an interview with “CNews”. As Darmanin continues, Benzema has been under observation for weeks. His actions are followed with particular interest. “We are attacking a hydra, namely the Muslim Brotherhood, because it causes jihadism,” the minister continued.
Background: Benzema had recently written on “X” (formerly Twitter) – without mentioning the name Israel: “All our prayers for the residents of Gaza, who are once again falling victim to unjust bombings in which neither women nor children are spared. “
A lying tweet!
▶︎ The fact is: Sparing women and children – that’s exactly what the Israeli army does as best it can, even to its own military disadvantage and in accordance with international law.
▶︎ It is also a fact: What Benzema accuses Israel applies exactly to Hamas: On October 7th, their terrorist mob targeted civilians, raped young women, tortured, killed and burned children and babies;
▶︎ And: Now Hamas is forcibly using its own civilians as human shields – a clear further war crime.
At least 1,300 Israelis were killed on October 7th, and hundreds of missing people are still being sought, so the number of victims is likely to rise. Another 199 civilians (at least) were taken hostage.
What is the Muslim Brotherhood?
The Muslim Brotherhood is a transnational Islamic organization that was originally founded in Egypt in 1928 as a resistance against British colonialism. It is therefore considered one of the oldest Islamist organizations. Hamas has long been considered its affiliate in the Palestinian territories.
The group is so influential in many Arab states that they classify it as a terrorist organization, including Egypt, where it won elections in 2011-2012, as well as in Saudi Arabia and the Emirates. The USA, Russia and France also classify it as a terrorist organization.
Benzema is a Muslim with Algerian roots and has played 97 times for France (34 goals).
