It is true what is now being heard again and again after the cruel act in Illerkirchberg in Baden-Württemberg. A 14-year-old girl was killed with a knife on her way to school, and another 13-year-old girl was seriously injured. A man who fled from Eritrea to Germany is held responsible for the crime. And now there are many loud voices: Refugees are always conspicuous when it comes to serious crime in this country. It’s not just a vague feeling. But that is definitely true in a statistical sense. Refugees are “overrepresented” among suspects in serious violent crimes, according to statisticians.
