Jonathan Majors has lost another role after his guilty verdict. He was supposed to portray basketball star Dennis Rodman.
Within a very short time, US actor Jonathan Majors (34) went from being a sought-after star to persona non grata in Hollywood. The star who was supposed to become the Avengers’ big new adversary has been kicked out of the Marvel Universe since his guilty verdict on harassment and assault charges. Now the US industry website “Variety” reports that Majors has lost another big role for which he was intended: He was supposed to play the shrill ex-basketball player Dennis Rodman (62) in a biopic with the working title “48 Hours in Vegas”. represent.
What’s more: The media company Lionsgate has therefore completely distanced itself from the project and given it back to the producers, it is said. Apparently they still plan to make the film. “48 Hours in Vegas” explores the life of the eccentric former Chicago Bulls player and tells the true story of his trip to Las Vegas during the 1998 NBA Finals. It has not yet been announced who will take the lead role instead of Majors.
The history
Majors was charged with assault and harassment against his ex-girlfriend Grace Jabbari (30) at the end of December last year. was convicted on two counts. The charges against the American actor stem from an argument between him and his ex-partner that began in the back seat of a car in New York City. Jabbari, a 30-year-old dancer, accused Majors of attacking her in the vehicle, leaving her in “unbearable” pain. She said he hit her in the head, twisted her arm behind her back and crushed her middle finger until it broke.
Majors’ lawyers claimed she was the attacker and flew into a rage after reading a text message on his phone sent by another woman. According to his own statement, Majors had hoped for an acquittal, but the jury saw it differently. Majors, who was asked to stand and face the jury as the verdict was read, had no immediate reaction in court. A judge will announce the sentence on February 6th.
Since his arrest in March 2023, Majors has lost other acting roles and advertising contracts in addition to his Marvel engagement, and his “Magazine Dreams” was also taken off the market at the beginning of the month.
