Sébastien Haller is back in BVB training. He’s had a difficult time since he was diagnosed with testicular cancer. A dream drives him.

Dortmund footballer Sébastien Haller, who is suffering from testicular cancer, gave an insight into the time during his four chemotherapy cycles.

“Each time I had to spend several days in the hospital and in bed. The symptoms were uncomfortable. I lost a lot of fluids every time, which also made me lose a few kilos. I had hiccups and stomach problems, and I couldn’t eat properly for a while taste it,” said the 28-year-old striker in an interview with “Bild”. The newcomer from Ajax Amsterdam was diagnosed with testicular cancer before the start of the season and was therefore unable to play a competitive game for BVB.

Above all, his family helped him after the cancer diagnosis, Haller explained. “When I got home, my wife had prepared a few small posters with the news from my family. Mom, dad, brother, sister. That was actually the most emotional thing.” He received many encouraging messages from the football world. “The Frankfurt buffalo gang with Luka Jovic and Ante Rebic also wrote to me, which made me happy,” said Haller, who played for Eintracht between 2017 and 2019.

Haller is currently preparing with Borussia Dortmund in Marbella, Spain, for the Bundesliga continuation on January 22 against FC Augsburg. His goal is to appear for BVB in front of the famous south stand for the first time. “That moment has been playing in my mind regularly since Day 1. That’s what you play for at the club.”
