“The player approached me, we talked and exchanged our views,” Rose said at the RB press conference (via picture) on Friday afternoon. “The topic is out of the world and will not come up again.”
After being substituted against Celtic, Werner left the field complaining and hesitantly high-fiving his coach. The striker then sat down at the end of the Leipzig bench, visibly annoyed.
“I expect the player to come to me,” Rose said to the professional ZDF-Interview reprimanded. “Other than that, it’s a team sport. I’ll pass the message along.”
Rose on Werner: “I totally stand behind him”
At the press conference, the RB coach reiterated this attitude: “I wanted to make it clear relatively early on what we want to stand for in Leipzig: for teamwork, for unity. If we want to achieve big goals, we only have a chance as a team.”
“I think Timo got that too,” Rose continued. “I’m totally behind him, I want to support him, that he scores a lot of goals for our club and for Germany. And that he develops. We talked about that.”
