After arrest in Munich: man collapses at police headquarters and dies – Munich

A 45-year-old man passed out at police headquarters on Tuesday night and died in hospital a few hours later. According to the police, the cause of death is not yet clear. The man was checked by a patrol shortly before midnight near Candidplatz on Monday.

It was found that he had an arrest warrant for theft. He was then taken to the Presidium’s detention center on Ettstrasse. A breathalyzer showed he was sober and there were no other signs of illness. However, just outside the cells, the man said he felt unwell and suddenly passed out.

Several police officers immediately began administering first aid and also used a defibrillator. At the same time, the rescue service and the emergency doctor were notified. The man was taken to a hospital while undergoing resuscitation. He died there on Tuesday morning from an unknown cause. There is no evidence of external influence, the police said. A medical cause is therefore assumed. Commissariat 12 (death investigation) has now taken over the further processing of the case.
