The USA has responded to the murder of three US soldiers with a retaliatory strike, and more could follow. However, the United States is still not interested in a war with Iran – and will therefore probably continue to target targets in Syria and Iraq in the future.
Since the US attacked several targets in Syria and Iraq with missiles on Friday evening, the risk of an expansion of the conflict in the Middle East has never been greater. US President Biden authorized the attacks in response to a drone attack on a US base in Jordan last Sunday in which three American military personnel were killed and more than 40 were injured.
