When we think that there was talk of a possible dismissal, according to certain media, Giovanni Habel-Küffner is not doing too badly. The Samoan third row was suspended by Stade Français until December 17 after having had an altercation with a member of the Pau staff during an unauthorized outing.
“Following the inappropriate and violent behavior of his player […]and after having received the latter in order to hear his explanations, the club management decided first of all on a sporting sanction”, explained this Friday in a press release the Parisian club, currently 5th in the Top 14. The player of 28 years old will have to “take part in work of general interest internally” and “a financial sanction will also be imposed”.
A nighttime escapade after a defeat
Several players and members of the Parisian management had made the decision to go out after a defeat in Pau (30-6), on November 25 during the 8th day of the championship, when they had been instructed to stay at their hotel . Stade Français indicated five days later that it had “sanctioned the offenders by applying appropriate disciplinary measures”.
Due to his altercation with a member of the management of the Section Pau, his former club, Habel-Küffner was more severely punished. He will miss his team’s first two matches in the Champions Cup, Sunday at Sale and December 17 at the Jean-Bouin stadium against another English club, Leicester.
