After a fatal fall: suspect apparently mentally ill – Bavaria

The suspect in the case of the fatal fall from a Main bridge in Lower Franconia was probably mentally ill at the time of the crime. He was therefore released from custody and is now in a district hospital, prosecutors and police said on Thursday. The 34-year-old is said to have made a 30-year-old man jump from a railway bridge between Wörth and Erlenbach (Miltenberg district) into the Main on the evening of February 17. A good three weeks later, the body of the 30-year-old was found at the lock of the Kleinwallstadt power plant (Miltenberg district). The exact cause of death and the course of events are still being determined. The suspect was arrested about a week after the jump in Rhineland-Palatinate and imprisoned on suspicion of murder.
