After 18 years in Germany, the murderer of fashion designer Moshammer has been deported to Iraq. He can live there as a free man, but is no longer allowed to enter Germany.

The 43-year-old Iraqi was imprisoned for 18 years for the murder of fashion designer legend Rudolph Moshammer. He has now been deported to his country of origin. A plane, including him on board, took off from Frankfurt Airport for Baghdad, a federal police spokesman told the German Press Agency.

The deportation has been in preparation since June 2022. After Iraq had recognized the man’s identity, nothing stood in the way of the deportation flight. The deportation had previously been slightly delayed due to missing documents. However, according to the State Office for Asylum and Repatriations, the necessary substitute passport paper could be obtained.

Return to Germany excluded

The 43-year-old will exit the plane in Iraq a free man, his attorney Adam Ahmed said recently. His client wanted the deportation.

The Iraqi has served the stipulated minimum period of imprisonment. The Munich I public prosecutor’s office had declared in November 2022 that in the event of deportation from prison, they would refrain from further execution of the prison sentence. However, the authority had rejected a release from custody to probation for the remainder of the sentence within Germany. However, the Iraqi may no longer enter Germany for the rest of his life.

Murdered fighting over money

The murder of the fashion designer Moshammer in January 2005 caused horror. The then 64-year-old had taken the then 25-year-old Iraqi with him as a prostitute in Munich in his Rolls Royce and drove with him to his villa in Grünwald.

There a dispute broke out over payment for the sex between the two men, during which the young man strangled the fashion designer. In November 2005, the Munich regional court convicted him of murder and robbery and determined the particular gravity of his guilt.

Moshammer had never made his homosexuality public. He was one of the most dazzling German fashion designers. The designer, best known for his ties, achieved nationwide fame through his eccentric appearances with his Yorkshire Terrier Daisy and numerous appearances in tabloid media.
