The bomb explodes in the middle of a university entrance exam. At least 19 people die. But the number of victims could still rise.

At least 19 people have been killed in a bomb attack on an educational facility in the Afghan capital Kabul. 27 others were injured in the explosion in the morning local time, according to a police spokesman. The attack took place in the district of Dashte Barchi, which is mostly populated by the Shia Hazara. According to the information provided by the educational institution, the students at the educational institution were just completing an entrance examination for the university.

The number of victims could still rise. An eyewitness told the German Press Agency that ambulances were still taking away the dead and injured hours after the explosion. When the Taliban took power, they closed schools for girls from the seventh grade upwards. Private educational institutions offer older girls the opportunity to continue their education.

To the fact no one has known. Since the Taliban took power in August 2021, attacks on civilians have been carried out primarily by the Islamic State terrorist militia. The Shia Hazara are particularly vulnerable to persecution and threats from IS.
