The AfD federal leadership is increasing the pressure on the controversial Bavarian state parliament member Daniel Halemba: As a party spokesman announced on Monday when asked, the federal executive board has now applied for party expulsion proceedings against Halemba. The “Main-Post” was the first to report on it. An arbitration tribunal for the party must now decide on the possible opening of exclusion proceedings.
Halemba looks forward to “continuing trusting cooperation”.
It became known almost two weeks ago that the Federal Executive Board wanted to apply for an exclusion procedure. Upon request, Halemba informed the BR that he looks forward to proceedings calmly. “In this context, it will be clarified beyond any doubt that the allegations are false claims made by a failed competitor,” he wrote. The state executive board has already determined this through legal reports. “I have already been sanctioned for the somewhat negligent acceptance of two new members.” After the process has been completed, he said, he looks forward to “continuing trusting cooperation with the Federal Executive Board again.”
Voluntary renunciation of appearances in the state parliament
Halemba has been criticized for months. The public prosecutor’s office has been investigating suspicions of sedition for a long time, and allegations of money laundering, communal coercion and damage to property have now also been added, as the public prosecutor’s office recently confirmed. The state parliament had previously Halemba’s immunity lifted for the second time. There have also been allegations within the party for a long time, including that Halemba is said to have violated the party’s statutes.
Regarding the public prosecutor’s new allegations, Halemba said: “I am firmly convinced that I have not committed a criminal offense.” However, he then also announced that he would forego public appearances in the state parliament for the time being and hand over internal party functions.
Party base has already called on Halemba to resign from his seat
At the end of last year, the AfD federal executive committee called on the Bavarian state executive committee to initiate an exclusion process. The decision was justified at the time with violations of the party’s rules, which would have led to the admission of members in violation of the statutes in the run-up to two meetings for the state elections in Bavaria. Because of the allegations that he had cheated in his favor when drawing up the list for the state elections, Halemba was then banned from holding office within the party for two years by the state executive board. At a state party conference, a majority of delegates also asked him to resign from his parliamentary mandate. However, the decision was not binding on Halemba – he did not follow it.
