AfD: Höcke loses immunity – politics

The state parliament in Erfurt approves an application from the Halle public prosecutor’s office. The leading figure of the extreme right in the AfD is said to have used a slogan in a speech that was common in the SA.

The Thuringian Justice Committee has lifted the immunity of the AfD state and parliamentary group leader Björn Höcke. The German press agency learned this from parliamentary groups. This cleared the way for the committee to investigate Höcke.

The reason is apparently a speech that Höcke gave in Saxony-Anhalt. He is said to have ended this with the words “Everything for Germany”, a slogan that was common in the National Socialist SA. The Thuringian AfD boss could have made himself a criminal offense, the corresponding criminal offense would be the prohibition of the use of symbols of unconstitutional organizations, which, for example, also criminalizes the use of swastika symbols or flags.

The Saxon-Anhalt Green leader Sebastian Striegel said on Wednesday that he had filed a criminal complaint on June 8th because of the Höcke speech. Striegel referred to a report by the Scientific Service of the Bundestag, in which the use of the phrase “Everything for Germany” at a meeting was a criminal offense. From Thuringian parliamentary groups it was said that the immunity waiver for Höcke is in connection with Striegel’s complaint.

The Thuringian AfD was classified in March by the State Office for the Protection of the Constitution as a secured extremist observation object. The Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution Thomas Haldenwang had also called Höcke a right-wing extremist.
