Now it’s official: The controversial AfD state parliament member Daniel Halemba remains a member of both the party and the parliamentary group. At the weekend, the majority of the AfD state party conference in Greding called on Halemba to resign his mandate and make room for a replacement. But the 22-year-old doesn’t want to follow that. He doesn’t have to, keyword: free mandate. This was confirmed with the AfD parliamentary group’s retreat, which ended on Thursday. As a “representative elected by the people,” this is his responsibility, said parliamentary group leader Katrin Ebner-Steiner. Halemba apologized internally for the inconvenience.
