The Federal Constitutional Court is negotiating whether the state must finance the AfD-affiliated Desiderius Erasmus Foundation as well as the other party foundations. The question reveals a dilemma – and also affects the CDU, SPD and Greens.

The Desiderius Erasmus Foundation has announced a web seminar on the “Fundamentals of food security in Germany” for this Tuesday. An aptly chosen topic, no question, it will be presented by an agricultural scientist from the board who worked “for several years as a specialist in a parliamentary group in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania”. The fact that he belongs to the AfD group is kept secret as discreetly as it is unnecessarily: Whoever books Desiderius Erasmus offers can also hope that there is a portion of AfD in it. After all, that’s what the foundation is for.
