Now, on the 1st of Advent, it’s time to think about the Christmas cards. In Great Britain there is a funny incentive for this: some letterboxes start to sing when they are posted.

Shortly before the 1st Advent, the post office in Great Britain came up with something special And it’s also a bit bizarre: The Royal Mail surprises some of its customers in the run-up to Christmas with “singing Letterboxes”. As the postal company announced, letterboxes in London, Swansea, Glasgow and Belfast have been equipped with a mechanism that plays Christmas songs when mail is dropped.

The classic red mailboxes were also decorated with images of snowmen, snowflakes and gold stars. They play well-known tunes such as “Jingle Bells”, “We Wish You A Merry Christmas” and “Deck The Halls”.

Advent time in London: A letterbox on Oxford Street also plays Christmas carols

“There’s nothing better than sending Christmas cards to friends and family and spreading a bit of festive cheer,” said London District Councilor Patricia McAllister, who holds the office of Lord Mayor of Westminster, according to the British news agency PA. In London, a postbox on Oxford Street was chosen for the campaign.

According to Royal Mail, twice as many letters, cards and parcels are sent in December as in other months of the year. This year, the company is also releasing special stamps for the festive season that are inspired by five traditional Christmas carols. They are the first Christmas stamps to feature the likeness of King Charles III. carry.
