Ado Campeol, the “father of tiramisu”, is dead

Lovers of dolci are sad. The death of Aldo Campeol, nicknamed “father of tiramisu”, was announced by the president of the Veneto region Luca Zaia on his social networks, spotted Provence. The restaurateur, owner of Alle Becchiere in Treviso, a few kilometers from Venice in northeastern Italy, died at the age of 93. He had started serving this mascarpone and coffee dessert to his customers in the 1970s.

“Treviso loses another star in its gastronomic history […] It was at home, thanks to his wife’s intuition and fantasy, that one of the most famous desserts in the world, tiramisu, was born, certified by the Italian Academy of Cooking ”, reacted on Saturday on Governor of Veneto.
