On Tuesday evening, Adidas grudgingly conceded its plan to increase its own sales by double digits this year. According to the new forecast, growth will only be five to just under ten percent at most. Puma, on the other hand, spread optimism on its own behalf on Wednesday morning: Instead of the planned ten, sales in 2022 will probably increase by around 15 percent. The differences are striking, as the number two and number three in the global sporting goods industry are battling the same problem as the industry’s number one, US giant Nike: China.
