Superstar Adele hasn’t played a concert in Germany for eight years. This dry spell will end in summer. The singer appears in Munich a total of ten times. The rush for tickets was huge. The chance of getting a card now is small.

After an eight-year break, fans can look forward to the long-awaited comeback: Adele will delight fans from all over Europe with ten concerts in Munich in the summer of 2024. The performances will take place in an open-air arena at the Munich exhibition center specially designed for this occasion and are the only dates outside the USA.

As the Ticketmaster platform announced, almost 2.2 million fans had already registered for the exclusive “presale”, i.e. the pre-sale before the pre-sale, on February 7th. With queues lasting several hours, hundreds of thousands of fans had to wait in front of the screens on Wednesday from 10 a.m. to buy tickets for the first four dates in Munich on August 2nd, 3rd, 9th and 10th.

Adele concerts in Munich: huge advance bookings

Despite the long waiting time, ticket sales went without any major server problems. There do not appear to have been any serious disruptions during the subsequent sales launches on Wednesday. Advance sales for the shows on August 14th, 16th, 23rd and 24th opened at 2 p.m., while fans had the opportunity to purchase tickets for the last two dates on August 30th and 31st from 6 p.m.

Ticket prices vary from 74.90 euros for seats at the back of the stand to 419.90 euros for standing seats directly in front of the stage. Special tickets were available between 250 and 700 euros.

In Munich, 80,000 fans per concert have the opportunity to experience the live spectacle. Even though the number of Adele concerts was increased from one to four and later to ten and the prices were high, it was to be expected that the tickets would be sold out quickly.

For those who came away empty-handed during advance booking, the chances of getting a ticket are slim. The ten concerts in Munich are Adele’s only concerts apart from her “residency” in Las Vegas, where she regularly performs at the same location. This is apparently also the reason why fans from all over Europe wanted to get tickets. The last remaining hope may now be residual returned tickets. If there are any tickets left over from the pre-sale, they will be available for sale from Friday. However, it is unclear whether and how many tickets there are.

Adele live in Munich: That's why the rush for tickets is so big

Exorbitant prices and on online platforms

The temptation to see Adele live will be great for many fans. And the frustration is likely to be correspondingly deep if you come away empty-handed in advance sales. However, you should think twice about buying cards on secondary or black markets.

On platforms such as classifieds or eBay, concert tickets are traded for sums that are significantly higher than the official retail price. For example, one user asked for 2200 euros for two tickets in the parquet category. It gets even more expensive with ticket portals like “viagogo”. For example, frontstage tickets are offered there for 2,500 euros each. The problem, besides the horrendous prices, is that buyers cannot check the authenticity of the tickets.

In order to counteract the black market, organizers such as Ticketmaster are increasingly relying on personalized tickets, especially for concerts of the magnitude of superstars such as Adele. Only the person whose name is on the ticket and who can provide appropriate identification can enter the event site. In most cases it is possible to change the name on the tickets up to a few days before the event, but this process is often time-consuming. Accordingly, it is recommended not to purchase personalized tickets through intermediaries. The chances of success in having your own name on the ticket are particularly low in such cases. In the worst case scenario, you spend a lot of money on a ticket that doesn’t let you into the concert.
