Adamo’s 80th birthday concert postponed for health reasons

The concert of Belgian-Italian singer Salvatore Adamo planned in Brussels on November 1 for his 80th birthday has been postponed until March due to pulmonary congestion affecting the artist, his entourage said on Tuesday. Another performance, scheduled for Saturday in the Belgian capital, was also canceled and postponed until mid-January.

“The point of pulmonary congestion that affected Salvatore about ten days ago has not yet completely healed. He needs time and rest and must wait a little longer before going back on stage,” explained those around him in a press release sent to AFP.

Scheduled 80 years to the day after his birth in Comiso in Sicily, Wednesday’s concert was to be held on the legendary stage of Ancienne Belgique, where the singer had experienced his first successes at the age of 20.

“Still need rest”

“Sorry friends. (…) I still need rest (…) We cannot force nature,” wrote the singer in a handwritten letter posted on Facebook.
