ADAC reports more traffic jams on Bavaria’s roads – Bavaria

There were more traffic jams on Bavarian roads in 2023 than in the previous year. The main reason for this was the severe onset of winter at the beginning of December, the ADAC Südbayern announced on Tuesday. For 2024, traffic experts expect more traffic again – and more traffic jams due to the many construction sites.

For the entire year 2023, the ADAC Südbayern recorded 65,303 hours of traffic jams – an increase of 18 percent compared to 2022. The snow chaos in winter caused more disruption than travel in summer, it said. The day of the year with the most traffic jams was December 2nd, with a traffic jam length of 5,757 kilometers and 517 traffic jam hours.

According to the ADAC Südbayern, the most congested route last year was once again Autobahn 8. There, travelers in both directions were stuck in traffic jams for a total of 4,662 hours. But the A 99 from Munich North to Munich South and the A 3 between the state border and Regensburg in both directions were also at the top when it came to traffic jam times.
